Discovering Canggu, Bali on a $50 Daily Budget: A 48-Hour Guide

Bali is a dream destination for many, but did you know you can experience the best of Canggu without breaking the bank? We’ve spent over six months living in this vibrant part of Bali and have crafted the perfect 48-hour guide to show you how to have an unforgettable time on less than $50 a day.

From delicious meals to relaxing poolside retreats and stunning sunsets, this guide is all about balancing fun and budget. Here's how to make the most of your two days in Canggu.

Day 1: Embrace the Canggu Vibes

Breakfast at Sammsfarm: Start your day with a hearty breakfast at Sammsfarm, where you can enjoy avocado on toast with scrambled eggs and bacon for just 50,000 Rp ($3.25 USD). If you're feeling adventurous, try the smoothie bowl – packed with fresh fruit and toppings for 60,000 Rp ($3.90 USD). Pair it with a cappuccino for a satisfying start to your day.

Relax at Valle Pool Club: Next, head over to Valle, a hidden gem of a pool club nestled in the middle of rice fields. For only 250,000 Rp (~$16.25 USD) per person, you can spend hours lounging by the warm pool, soaking in the peaceful surroundings. It’s a great alternative to the busier beach clubs and offers excellent value for money.

Sweet Treat at Sinamon: Need a midday pick-me-up? Stop by Sinamon for their famous cinnamon buns – they’re worth every bite! We even won a free coffee and an extra roll with our purchase, proving that sometimes, a little sweetness goes a long way.

Sunset at Pererenan Beach: As the day winds down, take a stroll along Pererenan Beach. Watching the sunset here is a daily ritual for locals and visitors alike. Grab a drink, find a cosy spot on the sand, and watch the sky change colours. The beach is long and stretches all the way to Seminyak, making it perfect for a scenic walk. Plus, you’ll encounter plenty of friendly dogs that add to the laid-back atmosphere.

Dinner at Casa Tua: Wrap up your first day with a romantic dinner at Casa Tua. This charming restaurant offers delicious Indonesian dishes at affordable prices, all set in a beautiful garden. The bunnies hopping around are an added bonus, making this a truly unique dining experience.

Total: 560,000 Rp (~$36.50 USD)/person

Day 2: Explore Beyond the Crowds

Breakfast at Torst Coffee: Kickstart day two with breakfast at Torst Coffee. Located a bit off the beaten track, this café offers serene views of the rice fields. Try their avocado on toast or eggs benedict, and don’t miss their signature cold brew with pineapple juice – an unexpectedly delightful combo. The total for breakfast came to 200,000 Rp (~$13 USD) for two people.

Spa Time at Dewah Spa: One of the best-value activities in Bali is a traditional Balinese massage. At Dewah Spa, you can enjoy a relaxing massage without breaking the bank. Although construction noise was a bit distracting during our visit, the experience was still well worth it.

Chill at Sol Rooftop: For a midday escape, head to Sol Rooftop. This chic spot offers a pool with ocean views and a relaxed vibe. With a minimum spend that includes food and drinks, it’s a fantastic place to lounge for a few hours. If you're there at sunset, you’ll also catch a DJ set and perhaps even a rooftop party.

Dinner at Wasia: Finish your trip with dinner at Wasia, one of the most beautiful restaurants in Bali. The tropical décor, combined with mouthwatering dishes, makes this a dining experience to remember. We particularly loved the coconutty pineapple dish – a perfect blend of Bali’s tropical flavours.

Total: 750,000 Rp (~$48.75 USD)
