Best Things to Do in Uluwatu: A 48-Hour Guide

Uluwatu, with its stunning white sand beaches, towering limestone cliffs, and crystal-clear blue waters, has become one of the most popular destinations in Bali. Known for its incredible sunsets and laid-back vibe, Uluwatu is a must-visit spot on the island. Having explored this area extensively, we've put together a 48-hour guide to help you make the most of your time in this amazing part of Bali. From beach clubs to hidden gems, here’s how to experience the best of Uluwatu in just two days.

Day 1: Beach Clubs and Hidden Beaches

Morning: Breakfast at Ulu Artisan: Start your day with a delicious breakfast at Ulu Artisan, one of our favourite spots in Uluwatu. The café offers a range of tasty dishes, from bagels with omelette and ham to Japanese-style omelettes on brioche toast. The food here is not only delicious but also reasonably priced, with meals for two costing around 220,000-240,000 Rp (~$14.50-$16 USD). Plus, its central location makes it a perfect stop before heading to the nearby beaches.

Mid-Morning: Pastries at Baked: Just across the street from Ulu Artisan is a new bakery called Baked. We couldn’t resist trying their sticky bun and apple pie pastry. While the apple pie pastry wasn't our favourite, the sticky bun was a definite winner. It’s a great little stop to satisfy your sweet tooth before continuing your adventure.

Afternoon: Beach Clubs - Palmilla & Sundays: After breakfast and pastries, head to Palmilla Beach Club. This stunning spot offers a mix of Tulum-inspired vibes with breathtaking ocean views. It’s a bit on the pricier side, with day beds costing around $130 USD for the both of us, but it’s worth the luxury experience. If you're looking for a more budget-friendly option, you can always grab a seat at the bar and enjoy the pool with some food or drinks.

From Palmilla, take a leisurely 15-minute walk along the beach to Sundays Beach Club. This is where the fun really kicks off, with activities like a beach movie screening. Make sure to book your seats in advance, as space is limited. Sundays Beach Club offers a relaxed vibe with a great movie selection – perfect for a laid-back evening.

Evening: Dinner at Ulu Garden: Wrap up your day with dinner at Ulu Garden, a cozy spot that serves delicious curries and offers a romantic atmosphere in the evening. With live acoustic music and twinkling lights, it’s the perfect place to wind down after a day of exploring.

Day 2: More Beaches and Stunning Views

Morning: Beach Hopping - Uluwatu & Suluban Beaches: Start your second day with a visit to Uluwatu and Suluban Beaches. These two beaches are right next to each other, offering fine sand and crystal-clear waters. If you’re an early riser, you'll enjoy fewer crowds and more peaceful surroundings. Be cautious of the strong currents, which make these beaches popular among surfers. If you prefer a quieter spot, head through a secret passageway to Suluban Beach, a lesser-known gem that’s perfect for a relaxing dip.

Afternoon: Sunset Spots - Single Fin & La Cima: As the day winds down, head to one of the best sunset spots in Uluwatu. Single Fin is a popular choice with its lively atmosphere, but if you’re looking for something a bit more low-key, try La Cima. This Italian restaurant offers stunning ocean views and great cocktails. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a chilled-out evening with a beautiful sunset as your backdrop.

Evening: Poolside Relaxation at One Eighty: Finish your Uluwatu adventure at One Eighty, one of Bali’s most incredible pool clubs. This luxurious spot offers a 20-meter infinity pool with a glass-bottom extension over the cliff’s edge, providing panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Despite its exclusive vibe, One Eighty is surprisingly affordable, with a 1 million Rp (~$65 USD) minimum spend that can be used on food and drinks. It’s a must-visit spot if you’re in the area, even for just a couple of days.

Final Thoughts

Uluwatu is a place where natural beauty meets luxury, offering a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. From the hidden beaches to the stunning sunsets, this 48-hour guide will help you discover the best that Uluwatu has to offer. Whether you're a beach lover, foodie, or just looking for a laid-back escape, Uluwatu has something for everyone.
