Is This Bali's Best Resort? Our Stay at Ayana 2024

We kicked off the New Year in style at one of Bali's most renowned resorts—Ayana. Nestled along the cliffs of Jimbaran Bay, Ayana Resort is famous for its breathtaking views, luxurious pools, and the world-famous Rock Bar. But is it really Bali's best resort? We spent 48 hours at Ayana, and here’s what we discovered.

A Luxurious Stay at Ayana’s New Segara Hotel

Ayana is more than just a resort; it’s a sprawling paradise with multiple hotels and villas. We stayed at Ayana’s newest addition, the Segara Hotel. Our King Room was spacious, with a large dressing area, a modern bathroom with both a shower and bathtub, and a cozy living space complete with a mini-fridge and coffee station. The balcony offered a stunning view of the resort’s lush grounds.

While the room was impressive, the highlight was definitely the resort itself, with so much to explore.

Exploring Ayana’s Private Beach

One of the must-visit spots at Ayana is its private beach at Kubu Beach Club. We decided to walk from our hotel to the beach, which took about 15 minutes through beautifully manicured gardens. The beach is secluded and doesn’t get overcrowded, making it perfect for a day of relaxation. While the food and drinks are on the pricier side, the remote location and incredible views make it worth every penny.

The beach is accessible by both stairs and a lift, and the views of the Indian Ocean from either are breathtaking. If you're a fan of beach clubs but want something a bit more private, this is the spot for you.

Dining and Sunsets at the Famous Rock Bar

No stay at Ayana would be complete without a visit to the Rock Bar, one of Bali's most iconic venues. Perched on a cliff with dramatic views of the waves crashing below, the Rock Bar is the perfect spot to enjoy a sunset cocktail. We were lucky with the weather during our visit, and the sunset did not disappoint.

The atmosphere at the Rock Bar is lively, with a DJ playing as the sun goes down. It’s a must-visit for anyone staying at Ayana or in the Jimbaran area.

Relaxing by the Pools

The next morning, we decided to explore some of Ayana’s many pools. The resort boasts several pools, each with its own unique design and vibe. We first visited the multi-level pool, known for its relaxing atmosphere and beautiful views.

Later, we checked out the rooftop pool near our room. While the food at this pool wasn’t our favorite, the panoramic views made up for it. If you’re looking for a quiet spot to unwind, this pool is a great choice.

Alternatives to the Rock Bar: Kisik Lounge & Bar

After a sudden rain shower canceled our second visit to the Rock Bar, we discovered Kisik Lounge & Bar. Located on the same cliff as the Rock Bar, Kisik offers similar views but in a more relaxed, quieter setting. It’s a great alternative if you prefer a more laid-back atmosphere without the crowds.

While the Rock Bar is perfect for those looking for a party vibe, Kisik is ideal for a romantic evening with a cocktail in hand and the sound of the waves in the background.

Early Morning Beach Stroll

On our final day, we woke up early to visit the beach again. Arriving before the crowds allowed us to truly appreciate the beauty of Ayana’s private beach. It’s easily one of the most stunning beaches we’ve seen in Bali, and starting the day with a peaceful walk along the shore was the perfect way to wrap up our stay.

Final Thoughts

So, is Ayana Bali's best resort? It certainly makes a strong case. The resort is somewhat isolated from Bali’s main tourist areas, but that’s part of its charm. You come here to relax and immerse yourself in luxury. The food and drinks are on the expensive side, but the quality and variety are impressive.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a place to unwind after a long flight, Ayana offers something for everyone. We left feeling refreshed and already planning our next visit.

If you're planning a trip to Bali, Ayana Resort should be on your list. From the stunning views at the Rock Bar to the tranquility of Kubu Beach, this resort offers a taste of Bali's best.
